Laura Ann Gorman
July 29, 1987 - February 25, 2006
Laura Gorman was anything but average. She graduated at the top of her class and displayed
school and community involvement. However, she always remained extremely humble. Laura was never afraid to be herself and
was always willing to help a friend in need. She was adventurous but focused, quiet but loud. Laura's contagious laugh
and carefree attitude will always be remembered by the many who loved her.
The Laura Gorman Scholarship of Outstanding Character was created to give students the chance to achieve what Laura might
have accomplished. This scholarship will be awared to high school seniors who excel in academics, as well as school and community
involvement--just as Laura did! The requirements for this scholarship were created to chose a student who had similar achievements
as Laura.
*REQUIREMENTS: This scholarship is intended for students
who are enrolled in a Pinellas County public school. Student must plan to attend a Florida College/University seeking a four-year
degree. Student must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, 100 hours of community service, and must have participated in a school sport
for all four years of high school. Must also display good character, school involvement, academic achievements and leadership
potential. Preference will be given to students who are the child of a teacher or are planning to attend Eckerd College. Students
must also include a 200-word essay describing what qualities make them unique and how they can be used to benefit others.
